About the Artist
Yen (Kevin Nguyen) is a contemporary artist from Brooklyn, NY who focuses on street, graffiti and abstract artworks. Growing up in a diverse New York City, he fell in love with it's urban graffiti scene at an early age and it has since then influenced his work.
As a Vietnamese-American he's inspired by his family's heritage in Cần Thơ, Vietnam and continues to be a voice for Vietnamese-Americans. Brasil is also a country he feels deeply connected to and draws inspiration from artists such as Tarsila Do Amaral and Os Gemeos.
He uses his inspiration from tropical places which encourages him to create works with vibrant bright colors contrasted with the comfort of a grey and black palette.
